Hourly.Guru was founded by Ken Clark, a serial entrepreneur who bounced from winning idea to idea, only to watch them all fizzle and fail over time. Since age 16, he's tried to start companies selling products from ski hats to baseball cards to financial products.

Discouraged and burnt out, he made a detour into the non-profit world where he found his footing and his greatest successes giving away his time and mentoring people. This led to a return to grade school to become a psychotherapist, with the sole intent of using his time to help people better their lives.

Swearing off the southern California rat race that he was raised in, he moved his family to Little Rock, Arkansas for a slower pace of life and with the sole goal of owning a small one-room counseling practice. No more wild dreams of being a entrepreneur and building a better mousetrap.

It turns out old habits die hard and that you can't run from your entrepreneurial DNA. Ken, who had been selling since he was a teenager, ultimately found himself in a position of trying to convince his therapy clients that change was possible and that it made sense to pay him hundreds of dollars per hour to learn how to achieve it. In short, Ken had to apply every lesson he learned about selling products to selling his time in one hour blocks.

Nearly a decade later, Ken's private practice has grown into a multi-million dollar enterprise with 40+ employees spread across five offices. His practice continues to grow between 30-50% per year, because his team treats the process of selling time and expertise with as much dedication as selling widgets, real estate, or technology.
